Reader 1.40 is available on the App Store. Together with the recent TXT and comic updates, it gives your own books a more comfortable place on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro.
Full-screen menus that stay out of the way
Lock the menus while reading an EPUB or comic to avoid accidental taps. Page turns, text selection and comic zoom remain usable. Hold the small lock when you need the controls back.
A reading companion, recorded in nature
Rain, dawn birdsong, waterfalls and lakeside waves come from field recordings, not synthesized white noise. Download a recording while connected; once saved, it works offline. Pro includes volume controls and a sleep timer. Loading progress makes preparation easier to follow.
TXT books and type that feels right
Import a local TXT book with a preview, chapter detection, line-break options and encoding choices. EPUB and TXT use the same font settings. Choose Noto Serif SC or LXGW WenKai Lite, or import your own TTF, OTF, TTC or OTC font.
Your comic folders, your page spacing
Choose a comic folder to bring in loose image pages and supported archives or PDFs from subfolders. Adjust the space between pages for each comic; the setting is remembered when you return.
Keep a passage, add a thought
Save excerpts from local EPUB and TXT books, with an optional comment, or add a bookmark. Text EPUBs downloaded from FolioSpace Library also support these annotations on this device. They remain after removing or rebuilding the download, but do not sync to the server or other devices.
Free at the core
Read unlimited local books without a server. Pro is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription. FolioSpace Library is an optional self-hosted source. AI translation and bilingual reading are not included in this release.
